Note Classification: Base
Aroma: Rich, sweet, balsamic, vanilla-like
Largest Producing Countries: Madagascar, Mexico, and USA

Traditional Use: Mainly used in the fragrance industry.

Properties: Balsamic

Benefits: Not recommended for aromatherapy. Vanilla is used as a base note or fixative in perfumery. The oil is viscous and may need to be warmed to aid pourability.

Blends Well With: Benzoin, bergamot, frankincense, jasmine, lemon, mandarin, opopanax, orange, patchouli, rose, sandalwood, vetiver, ylang ylang

Of Interest: The fold of an oil is the concentration of the distillation. The higher the fold, the stronger the oil is going to be. In the case of vanilla you may not notice a large difference in aroma of a 20 fold verses a 30 fold, but there will be a difference in the viscosity of the oil. A higher fold usually results in a thicker oil.

Safety Data: Not for internal use.
