Coriandrum sativum is an annual herb in the Apiaceae family. Cilantro leaf, often called coriander leaf outside of the United States, is known for its tart, citrusy flavor. However, a small percentage of the population report a soap-like flavor which is linked to a gene that detects aldehyde (a substance used in many soaps and detergents).
Cilantro is native to the Mediterranean region spanning from southern Europe to northern Africa and southwestern Asia. Fresh cilantro leaves are a staple ingredient in many south Asian, Indian, and Mexican dishes. Dried cilantro leaves can also be used in a similar manner to the fresh leaves, added sparingly to culinary dishes.
Our clearance cilantro leaf is organic. Cilantro leaves can be added to marinades, soups, dips, and sauces. Occasionally cilantro is steeped as tea or tinctured.
