Green peppercorns have a bright aroma, crisp flavor, and are an inviting shade of green. Green, black, and white peppercorns all come from the same plant, _ Piper nigrum_. Peppercorns are actually dried fruits and are harvested at varying times depending on ripeness. They are then processed in diverse ways to achieve a particular color and taste. Green pepper is picked before the fruits are mature. Because they decay rather quickly, the unripe peppercorns are freeze dried to preserve their green color and unique flavor.
Our clearance green peppercorns are fully certified organic. Whole peppercorns preserve well when kept out of direct sunlight and excessive heat. The peppercorns can be ground fresh or simply crushed between your fingers just prior to use. Green pepper can be used to liberally spice French, Creole, and Thai dishes.
Consumption of the fruit should not exceed small amounts for use as a spice.
