Rehmannia is one of 50 fundamental herbs used in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is considered a longevity tonic. Rehmannia glutinosa is a member of the Scrophulariaceae family. The species name glutinosa comes from glutinous, referring to the sticky nature of the root. Our organic rehmannia root slices are prepared in the traditional method by boiling the roots in yellow wine and black soy beans until the liquids have evaporated and the roots are black. The root pieces are then dried in the sun.
Traditionally, rehmannia root is prepared as a decoction. The tea is often prepared with cardamom or ginger to prevent feelings of heaviness or indigestion.
