Product Details

An aromatic resin that has been revered for millennia, myrrh gum continues to be used for is alluring scent and healthful properties today. Historical records indicate the earliest use of myrrh extends back to the ancient Egyptians in 3000 BCE. It is understood to be one of the key ingredients in the mythical Egyptian perfume Kyphi. Myrrh was utilized to anoint kings and bless the fabrics of those on holy pilgrimages and was even valued as much as gold by the ancient Romans.

While myrrh gum has long been revered for its aromatics and employed as an incense, the resinous sap also has a history of use in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic herbal formulations. Commiphora myrrha is often utilized in conjunction with other botanicals and is commonly incorporated into salves and other cosmetic applications. This bitter aromatic has an affinity for dispelling stagnation and is warming and drying.

Our organic myrrh extract is made in small batches with organic alcohol by our qualified team at our extract facility in Eugene, Oregon. Myrrh tincture has an earthy, smoky aroma and can be taken in water or juice. This extract blends well with others such as astragalus extract or Oregon grape root extract.
