Rehmannia is very popular in Chinese medicine, where it is considered to be a longevity tonic, and one of the 50 fundamental herbs. The species name glutinosa comes from glutinous, referring to the sticky nature of the root. The Rehmannia root offered by Mountain Rose Herbs is steamed.
The root may be prepared as a decoction. In order to prevent feelings of heaviness or indigestion, prepare with Cardamom or Ginger.
